News: RFTA unvails rapid transit service

Service from Glenwood Springs to Aspen in one hour

A traveling road show featuring a dinosaur stopped in Carbondale this week. The local bus agency unveiled marketing and plans for a state-of-the art transit system funded by taxpayer-approved bonds and the federal government. All told, RFTA has 50 million dollars to build a system to bring commuters from Glenwood to Aspen in an hour.

Last year Valley buses lost 17 percent of their riders and RFTA levied stiff fare increases. Even so, the agency is set to build the beefed-up bus system. KDNK's Marilyn Gleason attended a workshop on Bus Rapid Transit and brings a report.
