A new study by Colorado State University researchers is the first of its kind to put hard numbers to the health impacts of oil and gas industry pollution. Eric Galatas reports.

 

The Garfield County Sheriff’s Office announced Thursday night that DNA evidence and interstate law enforcement collaboration has lead to an arrest in Texas of two suspects in a No Name stabbing one year ago. Delbert Willeford and Amy Kent will be returned to Garfield County to face charges by the 9th Judicial District.

 

KDNK news director Gavin Dahl interviewed Boulder Weekly editor Joel Dyer back in May when the State Supreme Court ruled that Longmont’s fracking ban and the 5-year moratorium in Fort Collins were unconstitutional. Now that new proposed fracking regulations have failed to make the November ballot, it’s time to revisit the conversation about power, profit and politics in Colorado.

 
The 2016 general election is Tuesday, November 8th, now only 67 days away. All ballots will be sent to active voters by mail and Garfield County Clerk Jean Alberico says it's time for voters who may be traveling in November and college students away at school to make sure their ballots get to the right address. KDNK's Amy Hadden Marsh has more.
 

Gavin became one of the youngest station managers in public radio on February 1, 2017. He is a writer and producer with a passion for community media. Prior to starting at KDNK as news director in 2016, Gavin worked for national radio programs Alternative Radio with David Barsamian and Nonprofit Radio with Tony Martignetti along with local stations KGNU Boulder, KYRS Spokane, KRBX Boise, KAOS Olympia, and Air America Radio affiliate KPTK Seattle. His nonprofit management experience includes Open Media Foundation, where he led a government transparency team, and Common Frequency, where his policy advocacy supported dozens of noncommercial radio startups. Boulder Weekly, Raw Story, Austin American-Statesman, Boise Weekly, and The Sopris Sun have published his reporting. His TV credits include directing teams at Colorado Channel, crewing for Democracy Now!, and hosting on Free Speech TV. He graduated from the Evergreen State College in 2008 with a BA in media production and community organizing.
