PSA Guidelines

Thanks for submitting a PSA to KDNK community Radio. The following information should help you prepare a radio PSA and expedite getting your message on the air and online. PSAs that adhere to these guidelines are given priority treatment, so please read carefully!

Submit a PSA

Your PSA should be a 20-second script, ready to air. Fill out the online form to submit a PSA to KDNK.

PSAs are for non-profit entities only. Your message should be a readable script that is no longer than 20 seconds. It must be concise and easy to read and understand. Start with the essentials: Name, date and time, brief description and contact info. Any unusual word or name should be accompanied by phonetic pronunciation. Avoid using e-mail addresses, street addresses and phone numbers when possible. A website for more information will guide people to your website for the whole story.

Avoid fluffy words, adjectives, all-capital letters and ticket prices.

EXAMPLE 2: Not so good PSA

It's that time of year again when we kick out all the stops for our fall festival. This year's community Hoedown will be fun for the whole family. The kids will love the opportunity to carve local, organically grown pumpkins for just $5 each. The pumpkins will be picked at the local Halloween Ranch in New Castle.

Local favorites "The Last Minute String Band" will play their down-home style of bluegrass and country music. Aspen's own Tom Paxton will call the action on the dance floor. No experience is needed to learn square dancing and line dancing.

Homemade chili will be available for $5 starting at 6 pm. Local chefs will display their culinary prowess with beans, beef and cayenne pepper. Tommyknocker beer will be on tap to quench that special thirst that only chili can provide.

The Community Square Dance and Chili Cookoff will be October 25, from 6-10 pm at the new Carbondale Recreation Center, 511 Colorado Ave, Carbondale, Colorado, 81623. For additional information, or to sponsor the event, contact Bill Longwindedman at or call 970 379 7514.
