Glenn Miller swinging
When I was in Highschool the big swing bands were traveling the country doing one and two night stand. Teenagers saved-up for a ticket and sood in line for the next show. The "in" kids practiced "jitterbugging" to see who could outdo the others when Tommy Dorsey, Glen Miller, or Duke Ellington came to the local dance venue. Lucky Strike Cigarettes sponsored a weekly radio program, "Your Hit Parade" which featured the top 10 tunes of the week according to the "charts". During WWII, the music went to war with us. The memories are so strong, that I still enjoy those "old" tunes and try to introduce younger generations to the "Big Bands". Tune in every Tuesday evening with Art Ackerman and some great big band music!
