KDNK Blues & BBQ is August 17 Cary Morin, a Crow Indian from Montana brings his Native Americana fingerstyle blues to KDNK's Blues & BBQ, Saturday August 17 at the 4th Street Plaza in Carbondale. The show features Hannibal Brown at 4pm, Texas Flood (Stevie Ray Vaughan tribute) at 5pm and Cary Morin at 7:00 pm. Click through to see the awesome food menu that the Goat is bringing to the party.

KDNK’s annual Blues & BBQ in the 4th Street Plaza in Carbondale offers three tasty musical acts and BBQ from the Goat Restaurant in Carbondale. The show starts at 4 p.m. with local rock and blues from Hannibal Brown. The Stevie Ray Vaughan tribute band “Texas Flood” starts at 5 p.m. and headliner Cary Morin plays from 7-9:30.

Morin is making his Carbondale debut. His unique Native Americana finger-style blues sets the stage for his smoky, nuanced voice filled with timeless tones and infused wisdom. Morin has just released a new album, “Streamline,” which follows on the heels of the critically-acclaimed, “Sing it Louder,” which received lots of airplay and attention from KDNK DJs.

Texas Flood plays a two hour show highlighting Stevie Ray Vaughan and Double Trouble with authentic equipment and authentic costume changes. The band rips through 25 songs
spanning every album from Texas Flood to The Vaughan Brothers. The group features Gerry Goodman on guitar and vocals, John Brown on bass and Darin Elwell on drums.

Hannibal Brown is a local band playing tight rocking blues a-la the North Mississippi All Stars.

Barbeque will be catered by Carbondale’s Goat Deli. Co-owners Stacey Baldock and Pagge Wheatley will serve smoke club sliders with smoked turkey, smoked pork belly, juicy tomatoes and jalapeno mayo. Also on the menu: Traditional pulled pork sliders and sandwiches; Shaved smoked prime rib sandwiches with creamy horseradish; Mexican pulled pork tacos and cilantro slaw; Sides of baked beans, potato salad, creamy slaw, corn on the cob and Mexican corn on the cob. There will be a Mojo Carolina BBQ sauce and a sweet Kansas City BBQ sauce.

The event is the kick off for KDNK’s 30th anniversary membership drive. Admission is free for all KDNK members with a KDNK community card and $5 for general admission. KDNK will serve selected beverages to compliment the BBQ. KDNK will broadcast the music from the fair at 88.1, 88.3 and 88.5 FM in the valley and via the Internet at kdnk.org/listen.
