The Middle Mamm Fire was started by lightning on July 28th and is burning approximately 10 miles south of Rifle, Colorado. High winds and dry conditions have caused increased active fire behavior, smoke, and potential for growth. Emergency closures have been issued in the vicinity of the fire.


Town of Carbondale

On Tuesday September 24th the Town of Carbondale recognized the second Monday in October as Indigenous People's Day. Mayor Dan Richardson read the proclamation out loud to the room..

In the November election, Colorado voters will consider Proposition DD, a ballot initiative to legalize sports betting that would impose a 10 percent tax on all gambling activities. Sports betting itself might be the least controversial aspect of this legislation, it's where the tax revenues go that gets complicated.

A strike for Climate Action at Sopris Park tomorrow will feature speeches from students, local government officials, climate activists and more. City of Rifle

Official results will be made available by Wednesday September 18th once all Uniformed and Oversees Citizens Absentee Ballots have come in, and any signature discrepancies have been resolved.

Carbondale’s town council voted tuesday to approve an ordinance requiring all retailers of tobacco products to obtain a license through the town.
