News Director

Raleigh Burleigh is a born local. Raised in the sweet backwaters of Satank, he attended the Carbondale Community School and later Roaring Fork High School. The Carbondale Rotary Club sponsored him as a youth ambassador to Chile for a year before his graduation in 2011. Raleigh then attended Colorado Mountain College, building his associate degree first online from California, then across the Roaring Fork Valley and finally at the Leadville campus. He studied International Affairs and Journalism at the University of Colorado, Boulder then applied those studies traveling throughout South America for the following year. Having returned to Carbondale to recollect himself, Raleigh acquired an internship with KDNK News which has led to this golden opportunity to serve his community as news director while drawing deeper into the rich soils of this confluence. American Legislative Exchange Council

Documented Investigations has revealed that 15 Colorado legislators, including Senator Randy Baumgardner and Representative Bob Rankin, are members of the American Legislative Exchange Council. ALEC is a nonprofit organization of state legislators and private sector representatives who draft and share state-level legislation. Nonpartisan watchdog group Colorado Common Cause wants constituents to urge their elected officials to leave ALEC. KDNK’s Raleigh Burleigh spoke with advocacy and media manager Caroline Fry to find out why.

Durango-based Cedar Networks has now installed fiber optics on every utility pole in Carbondale proper. Co-owner Chris Stebner told KDNK’s Raleigh Burleigh that the plan is to expand into neighborhoods, based on demand.

Local entrepreneurs have the opportunity to win $10,000 towards their start-up business idea by participating in the GlenX Business Incubator pitch competition. KDNK’s Raleigh Burleigh spoke with Small Business Development Center consultant Jonathan Stokely to learn more. Registration for the Glen X Business Incubator pitch competition ends on Wednesday, March 7th, followed by the first education session at 7pm at the Third Street Center in Carbondale.
