Community Calendar for October 13th

Here’s your community calendar for Thursday, October 13th, underwritten by the Mount Sopris Rotary Club, meeting every Thursday at noon at Mi Casita in Carbondale. Rotary, service above self.

  • Food Bank of the Rockies is bringing its free mobile food pantry to the Health and Human Services Building in Aspen from 11am to 1pm. First come first served. No eligibility required. Bring boxes or bags for your food items.

  • The pumpkin patch at Osage Gardens, on River Frontage Road between New Castle and Silt, is open from 11AM to 6PM.

  • From 5 to 8, Valley View Conference Center hosts a special event for women over 40 along with Valley View Physicians. It’s called “Women’s Wisdom, Flourishing Over 40.”

  • The Mendez Trio: Josefina Mendez, Tim Fox and Mark Johnson play new songs at Basalt Library from 5:30 to 7. Shhh!

  • At 6, Speckled Feather Mercantile in New Castle hosts a paint party class called Lovebirds. Admisison includes paint, supplies, step-by-step instruction, and a take-home canvas.

  • The worst-reviewed movie of the year screens at The Aspen Public Library Community Room at 6:30. Hillary’s America: The Secret History of the Democratic Party received a 4 out of 100 rating from film critics on Rotten Tomatoes and 2 out of 100 on Metacritic. LA Times wrote it doesn't even qualify as effectively executed propaganda.

  • Smoken Joe and Zoe play Heather’s in Basalt at 7.

  • At 7:30 Thunder River Theatre in Carbondale presents Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde.

  • At 8:30, Glenwood Springs Brew Garden has Trivia hosted by comedian Max Graf and KDNK’s own DJ Phathead.

  • And K Seas Wing House has karaoke with Sandman starting at 9.

Looking ahead…

  • Town of Carbondale turns off the ditches tomorrow, starting at 8AM.

  • Carbondale has three candidates for mayor to choose from this election, current mayor pro tem Dan Richardson, current trustee Katrina Byars and past trustee Ed Cortes. On October 20th, KDNK will broadcast live from a forum we’re co-hosting along with The Sopris Sun and the Carbondale Chamber of Commerce at the Third Street Center from 5:30 to 7.
