The Aspen Film Fest opens in Carbondale this evening and runs through the weekend at the Crystal. The U.S. premiere of Gun Runners screens at 5:30, about Kenyan warriors who choose to put violence behind them. Trespass Against Us, starring Michael Fassbender and Brendan Gleeson screens at 7:45. Movies run through the weekend. Full schedule at Aspenfilmfest.org. Bonfire Coffee in Carbondale has tickets. The Crystal Theatre will also have tickets 30 minutes before the shows.
Paonia’s annual Mountain Harvest Festival kicks off at 4:30 with live music and a chili cook off.
Also at 5:30 at Explore Booksellers in Aspen, Fat City Farms founder Illene Pevec signs her new book “Growing a Life.” She’ll share stories of how working with nature changes a person.
Marble Distillery hosts a building tour at 5:30. The building uses heat from the distilling process to heat the building and recaptures it's cooling water, saving over 4 million gallons per year.
Glenwood Vaudeville Revue hosts Dinner Theatre at 6.
Uptown Strutters play the Limelight Hotel in Aspen at 6:30.
Heather’s in Basalt has Chris Bank and Mark Johnson at 6:30.
At 7 Rosewood Divine plays the Marble Distillery in Carbondale.
Brad Vierheller mans the piano at the Riviera Supper Club in Glenwood Springs at 7.
Loyal Brothers Lounge in Glenwood hosts Valley Comedy All-Stars at 8:30.
Also at 8:30 the Leonard Curry Trio plays Glenwood Springs Brew Garden.
Todd Johnson plays the Rivers Restaurant in Glenwood at 9.

The KDNK Record Sale is an annual tradition during Potato Day, Carbondale’s oldest community celebration. On Saturday October 1st, KDNK will be next to the stage in Sopris Park, selling vinyl, CDs and stereo equipment from 9AM to 3. Proceeds benefit KDNK. Bulk buys encouraged.
