Local Newscast for October 14, 2016

The KDNK local newscast airs every weekday morning at 6:41 and 7:41.

 

The Bundy brothers and others have been on trial in Oregon for conspiracy since September in connection with the January, 2016 occupation of the Malheur National Wildlife Refuge. Conrad Wilson, former KDNK News Director, has been covering the proceedings for Oregon Public Broadcasting. Colorado moms delivered coal to Colorado Attorney General Cynthia Coffman last Christmas for her efforts to defeat the E-P-A's Clean Power Plan. They've now launched a petition hoping to protect the extra air kids are breathing during fall sports season. Eric Galatas reports.

 

Last week, the Garfield County Library District Board hired 28-year old Jesse Henning as the director of the district. Henning is an Ohio State University grad, with a master's in library and information science from Kent State. Henning was a youth services librarian in Ohio before becoming  the manager of the Rifle Library in August, says the Post Independent. He and his wife, Carrie, live in Silt. Henning's annual salary is set at $83,200. He signed a one-year contract with the option for annual renewal. Read the whole story here.

 

Eagle County residents who want to report suspected child abuse or neglect will now need to call the statewide hotline. The hotline is staffed by trained operators 24 hours a day, 365 days a year, with services in both English and Spanish. The number is 1-844-CO-4-KIDS. Callers may remain anonymous and reports are confidential.
