Local Newscast for September 15th

KDNK's Local Newscast airs weekday mornings at 6:41 and 7:41 during Morning Edition.

Kelcy Warren, chairman and CEO of Energy Transfer Partners, operator of the Dakota Access Pipeline, issued a memo Tuesday in response to recent events in North Dakota and Washington DC. He said the company is committed to completing the project and plans to meet with Federal officials. Three Federal departments called on the company Friday to voluntarily halt construction until the Army Corps of Engineers reviews previous decisions. Among other things, the memo adds that none of the land bordering Lake Oahe nor the lake itself are subject to Native American control or ownership, that state studies found no sacred items along the route, and that concerns about the pipeline's impact on local water supplies are unfounded.

KDNK News Director Gavin Dahl sat down for an interview with Roaring Fork School District superintendent Dr. Rob Stein yesterday. Gavin started by asking Stein how he’s feeling about being back in charge and back to school. Before leaving the station to head to a school board meeting yesterday, Stein said he’s been a KDNK listener since 1984. Join Superintendent Stein in supporting KDNK with your pledge at 963-0139.
