Just when you thought it couldn’t get any more expensive to protect your family’s health, insurance companies are coming after Coloradans' wallets again next year, and the state agency regulating rates has signed off on their plans. Eric Galatas reports.

 
Tuesday night’s Board of Trustees study session included 90 minutes of discussion about safety in Carbondale, particularly for women and girls getting around without a car at night. Gavin Dahl reports.

 
Despite moderate growth in Colorado, non-partisan state legislative economists say the risk of a recession is rising here and across the nation. Bente Birkeland reports from the capitol.

 
The Lost Solar Fire outside Meeker is still burning at over 4,400 acres. The temporary closure order within the Flat Tops Wilderness is still in effect for multiple trails. The fire started by lightning within the the White River National Forest back in early August. A presentation on the fire’s role in the ecosystem and the recovery after the Big Fish Fire of 2002 will happen this Thursday, Sept 22nd, 7:00 – 8:30 pm, at the Meeker Public Library.

 

Gavin became one of the youngest station managers in public radio on February 1, 2017. He is a writer and producer with a passion for community media. Prior to starting at KDNK as news director in 2016, Gavin worked for national radio programs Alternative Radio with David Barsamian and Nonprofit Radio with Tony Martignetti along with local stations KGNU Boulder, KYRS Spokane, KRBX Boise, KAOS Olympia, and Air America Radio affiliate KPTK Seattle. His nonprofit management experience includes Open Media Foundation, where he led a government transparency team, and Common Frequency, where his policy advocacy supported dozens of noncommercial radio startups. Boulder Weekly, Raw Story, Austin American-Statesman, Boise Weekly, and The Sopris Sun have published his reporting. His TV credits include directing teams at Colorado Channel, crewing for Democracy Now!, and hosting on Free Speech TV. He graduated from the Evergreen State College in 2008 with a BA in media production and community organizing.
