Radio Physics: Marta Łuksza Uses Physics to Better Understand Disease

Patty Fox

On this month's edition of Radio Physics, we talk with Marta Łuksza, Assistant Professor at the Icahn School of Medicine in Mount Sinai, New York. She's developed models to predict the evolution of influenza virus.

Łuksza researches population genetics and the evolutionary dynamics of fast-evolving systems such us viruses, cancer, and the immune system. She also consults the World Health Organization Influenza Unit in their bi-annual vaccine selection meetings.

Radio Physics is a collaboration with the Aspen Center for Physics, KDNK, and advanced physics students at Roaring Fork Valley High School. This interview was recorded earlier in 2018 during the teen summer program. Hear past episodes of Radio Physics here.
