  • On Saturday, in conjunction with Waste Diversion and Spring Clean-Up Day, Carbondale police will collect expired prescription drugs at the police station from 10 AM to 2 PM. E-waste, textile recycling, and yard waste collection along with a compost giveaway will take place across from the Carbondale Town Hall from 8am to 4pm.  

  • The Carbondale Tree Board hosts an Arbor Day Celebration, planting trees in Miners’ Park at 9am.

  • The Alice March for Climate Change meets Saturday at 10 AM at the Goat Restaurant parking lot.

  • Sopris Sun hosts a free Mother’s Day photo shoot at the Third Street Center from 10 to 3. More information and reservations at mark@rfvphoto.com.

  • Cripple Creek Backcountry hosts a closing party at 2 in Carbondale.

  • Thunder River Theatre Company presents Lilly’s Purple Plastic Purse this Saturday and Sunday at 4.

  • The Masonic Lodge in Glenwood Springs hosts the Swing into Summer Country Dance beginning with lessons at 5:30.

  • Imagine 5, the River Bridge Regional Center annual fundraiser with performances by the Leonard Curry Trio begins at 6 at the Old Thompson Barn in Carbondale.

  • Comedy Night at the Marble Distillery features Deacon Gray at 7.

  • The Ragabonds and Funk Trek play at the Scarlet in Leadville at 8.

  • White Water Ramble play at the Belly Up Aspen at 9:30.

Raleigh Burleigh was raised in the historic floodplanes of Satank. The Carbondale Rotary Club sponsored him as a youth ambassador to Chile the year before his graduation from Roaring Fork High School. He studied International Affairs and Journalism at the University of Colorado, Boulder then applied those studies traveling throughout South America the following year. Returning to Carbondale thereafter, Raleigh acquired an internship with KDNK News which led to the opportunity to serve as News Director from 2017 to 2019. After another trip to South America in early 2019, Raleigh Burleigh drew deeper into the confluence as Program Director at KDNK. Raleigh now serves on KDNK's board of directors and as editor of Carbondale's weekly newspaper, The Sopris Sun.
