Sunlight Mountain Debuts New Terrain for the First Time Since 1993

ToddPatrickPhoto.com

Sunlight Mountain’s Skier Appreciation Day on January 10th will feature brand new hike-out runs on the mountain's east ridge. KDNK’s Lucas Turner has more.

New runs are part of a multi-year, $4 million expansion that will include building a capital fund, permitting with Garfield County and the US Forest Service, as well as planning and shopping for a new lift.

Phase one of the expansion began this summer, involving extensive glade work on existing trails, along with tree removal that added approximately 500 vertical feet of descent to some runs. Similar work will take place this summer for phase two.

Finally, phase three will add a new lift to the east ridge, bringing the total number of lifts at Sunlight Mountain Resort to four.
