  • KDNK’s Thank You Party for members and volunteers is tonight from 5 to 8pm at Roaring Fork Beer Company featuring live music by Frank Martin and Pearl & Wood.

  • Aspen chefs compete for the best chicken wings in town at the Great Chicken Wing Throwdown from 5 to 9pm on the Sundeck at Aspen Mountain. Karl Denson’s Tiny Universe and DJ Dylan perform to benefit Lift Up, Feed My Sheep, Stepping Stones and the Aspen Homeless Shelter.

  • Also at 5, Ann Korologos Gallery welcomes author David Stockman for a reading and signing.

  • Basalt Library features an evening of Frank Sinatra tonight from 5:30 to 7 courtesy of Scott MacCracken on vocals and David Dyer on piano.

  • The Met: Live in HD screens Romeo and Juliet at the Wheeler Opera House at 5:30.

  • Pitkin County Library screens Finding Dory in Spanish or Buscando a Dory at 5:30.

  • Glenwood Elks Lodge 2286 offers Bingo at 6.

  • Glenwood Vaudeville Revue presents a judged Glenwood Talent Show at 6:30, featuring singers, dancers, jugglers, comedians and more. All ages and abilities welcome.

  • At 7, Rickhouse Social in Aspen will host a benefit for Tipsy Taxi. Since 1983, the program has provided safe rides home to thousands of people too intoxicated to drive safely. The party, billed as Save Tipsy Taxi, features food from Aspen Kitchen, DJs and a silent auction.

  • Smokin Joe and Zoe play Heather’s in Basalt at 7.

  • Isis Theatre in Aspen screens art documentary Hockney at 7:30.

  • The Crystal Theatre in Carbondale screens 20th Century Women at 7:30.

Gavin became one of the youngest station managers in public radio on February 1, 2017. He is a writer and producer with a passion for community media. Prior to starting at KDNK as news director in 2016, Gavin worked for national radio programs Alternative Radio with David Barsamian and Nonprofit Radio with Tony Martignetti along with local stations KGNU Boulder, KYRS Spokane, KRBX Boise, KAOS Olympia, and Air America Radio affiliate KPTK Seattle. His nonprofit management experience includes Open Media Foundation, where he led a government transparency team, and Common Frequency, where his policy advocacy supported dozens of noncommercial radio startups. Boulder Weekly, Raw Story, Austin American-Statesman, Boise Weekly, and The Sopris Sun have published his reporting. His TV credits include directing teams at Colorado Channel, crewing for Democracy Now!, and hosting on Free Speech TV. He graduated from the Evergreen State College in 2008 with a BA in media production and community organizing.
