This if the first of a monthly series and collaboration between the Andy Zanca Youth Empowerment Program, the Colorado Mountain College Sustainability Studies Program and KDNK. AZYEP's Adele Craft talks with CMC's Wofly Draper, Sheehan Meagher and Professor and Dean of Students, Adrian Fielder, about the program and sustainability issues.

The Andy Zanca Youth Empowerment Program launches a new monthly show called 'Take a Minute" with Andy B. The show will broadcast each first Monday of the month throughout the school year.

On this month's show, Andy talks with Jonathan Greener, Assistant Director of Stepping Stones of the Roaring Fork Valley. Stepping Stones offers a mentor program and drop-in program for youth in the valley. 

Nyibol Bior is a special education teacher in Colorado with an amazing journey. After walking over 1000 miles to a refugee camp in Kenya at 8 years old, Nyibol made her way to the United States. She tells her story in her new, self-published book, “My beautiful colors.” Hear about the lessons she learned from her grandmother and the resilience that helped her and her family build a new life.

Andy Zanca Youth reporters from the TRIO Upward Bound Program of Eagle and Lake counties interview Vail Health Infection Preventionist Caitlyn Ngam regarding the COVID vaccine. The students also offer some of their own personal reflections of the pandemic.

Get to Know Local Farmers with AZYEP

The Andy Zanca Youth Empowerment Program partnered with the Colorado Mountain College Upward Bound Program of West Garfield County. Pre Collegiate students from New Castle, Rife and Parachute interviewed community organizations and institutions in a four part series. Here the student interview Garfield County Commissioner, Mike Samson about his take on oil and gas in West Garfield County. 

American identity is complex and diverse. This spring, Bridges students explored the idea of "What it means to be American" through personal stories. 

This month, we say thank you and goodbye to host Steve Mills. In his last interview, he talks to Jessica Weissbuch, the founder of Brave Trails, which is a summer camp specifically for LGBTQ+ youth. 

Why is Art important to Carbondale? AZYEP Summer students ask this and many other questions to five local artisans: Natalie Spears, Chris Hassig, Sarah Uhl, Janelle Figgins, and Megan Jansen.
