Per-Fume of Prayer: Reclaiming Shock and Sorrow

Tanya Blacklight and Christine Palafox have organized a number of ceremonial dances and prayer in the North Fork Valley. Tanya joined Raleigh on Express Yourself to talk about the power of those events and a short film documenting them that will premier at the Inspired: Art at Work Symposium in Paonia.

Each Spring, Roaring Fork Valley resident and artist Fred “Lightnin’ Heart” Haberlein travels to Old Pascua in Tucson, Arizona for the Yaqui Spring Ceremonies. This year, KDNK celebrates Fred’s 47th journey to the ceremonies this year with an excerpt from Will Evan's Shifting Gears interview from last Spring. The word yahete means "from my heart" and is used both as a greeting and to say "goodbye." For more information about Yaqui traditions, click here.
