The local premier sold out, so the film is back for an encore screening at the Crystal Theatre in Carbondale on Friday night, December 14th at 5:15. The Unruly Mystic explores the remarkable life and influential works of a patron saint of environmental activism and Father of America's National Parks.

The Aspen Choral Society has been invited to perform Handel's Messiah at Carnegie Hall on November 25.  Choir Director Paul Dankers stopped by Express Yourself to share the excitement. The Aspen Choral Society will also be performing Messiah at Grace Church in Basalt on December 14, at The Wheeler Opera House on December 15, and at St Stephens in Glenwood Springs on December 16.

Dj Hill

DJ Hill will premier her Homespun Mercies, a compliation of poems written over two decades, at the opening reception for The Red Brick Center for the Arts exhibition More Than Thread on November 15. In addition to making available copies of her book at this reception, DJ Hill's mixed-media piece called "Release," which graces the cover of Homespun Mercies, will be on display. DJ stopped by KDNK's Express Yourself to share about her work.

Activist and musician Gabrielle Louise and filmmaker Naropa Sabine stopped by Express Yourself to speak with KDNK's Raleigh Burleigh about their music video for Industry, a new single from Gabrielle that tells the story of Paonia’s push to preserve the North Fork Valley.

In honor of October as domestic violence awareness month, Response presents Our Response: Survivor Stories at the Wheeler Opera House on October 18 at 5pm. Local poet, choreographer, artist and storyteller Alya Howe has worked closely with five women who will share their stories of surviving abuse and thriving. She stopped by Express Yourself to share details about the Writ Large Storytelling Series Event.

Basalt Band Director In Line for Grammy

Basalt Middle and High School Band Director Nick Lenio is a semi-finalist for the 2016 Music Educator Grammy award. Yes, a real Grammy, the one people go to LA to receive. Lenio is in a group of 25 that has been whittled from over 3,000 entrants. He finds out in December if he makes it to the top 10. He joined KDNK's Amy Hadden Marsh on the October 25th Express Yourself show to talk about his work.
