Roaring Fork Transportation Authority, or RFTA, reinstated fare collection and front-door passenger boarding August 1st. Both practices had been suspended since late March due to COVID-19. KDNK’s Kathleen Shannon has this report.


Colorado is the latest state in the Mountain West to issue a mask requirement, joining Nevada and New Mexico.

Hair salons are now back in business under Colorado’s “Safer at Home” phase. Fiore Salon in Carbondale was closed for six weeks before reopening on May 4th and resuming operations at 50% capacity. KDNK’s Kathleen Shannon spoke with co-owner Lauren Duncan about recent business.

Carbondale Trustees Tuesday voted 6 to 1 in favor of a limited face mask ordinance. KDNK’s Lucas Turner has the story.

During World War II, nylon stockings disappeared from store shelves as the valuable synthetic material was diverted to make critical wartime supplies such as parachutes, flak jackets and aircraft fuel tanks. Now, new research suggests that nylon stockings could once again play a critical role in a national battle — this time by making homemade cloth masks significantly more protective.

Governor Jared Polis says all workers in critical buildings such as grocery stores and nursing homes will now be required to wear face masks. His executive order comes after there have been coronavirus outbreaks in at least fifteen nursing homes and residential care facilities around the state.

The Pitkin County Board of Health Monday endorsed an advisory urging the public to wear non-medical cloth masks in public places where social distancing is not possible. KDNK’s Lucas Turner has more.
