The popular trail east of Glenwood Springs is now only accessible by permit and shuttle bus from Glenwood Springs. The new reservation system follows years of preparation and research.

A new reservation system to limit the human impact on the enormously popular lake in Glenwood Canyon begins April 1. The new system puts an end to years of unregulated access and caps daily visitors at 615 year-round.

The White River National Forest has issued a draft decision on the Hanging Lake Management Plan. If approved, visitors will have to make reservations and pay to take the hike. KDNK's Amy Hadden Marsh spoke with Eagle-Holy Cross District Ranger Aaron Mayville to get the details. The objection period for the draft plan closes March 31.
