North Fork Valley Hosts Rise For Climate Action

On Saturday, September 8, a crowd gathered in Paonia Town Park in coordination with Rise For Climate actions across the globe. KDNK’s Raleigh Burleigh has this report.

Commenting on the Bureau of Land Management’s environmental assessment for the remaining North Fork parcels ends Tuesday, September  11. Rally for the Valley is on Sunday, September 16, at Delicious Orchards in Hotchkiss from 4 to 7pm. Carpooling is encouraged.

The libel case filed by energy company SG Interests against North Fork activist Pete Kolbenschlag has been dismissed by a judge ruling that the comment made by Pete was “substantially true.” Pete maintains that this was a Strategic Lawsuit Against Public Participation, otherwise known as a “SLAPP suit.” KDNK’s Raleigh Burleigh spoke with him to learn more…

North Fork Valley activist Peter Kolbenschlag and others held a People’s Press Conference outside a House Natural Resources Field Hearing in Grand Junction Friday, calling on Colorado and Utah Congressmen Scott Tipton and Rob Bishop to protect public health and safety instead of oil and gas industry interests. An active opponent of oil and gas is being sued by the company that had BLM leases canceled in the Thompson Divide. The defendant claims that this is a SLAPP suit, a strategic lawsuit against public participation, intended to silence opponents of oil and gas development in the North Fork Valley.
