After extensive collaboration between community groups, and two public comment periods, Pitkin County officials Tuesday voted to adopt the new Penny Hot Springs Management Plan. KDNK’s Lucas Turner has more.

The public comment period for the Penny Hot Springs management plan closes this Friday. KDNK’s Lucas Turner spoke to Planning and Outreach Manager for Pitkin County Open Space and Trails Lindsey Utter about some of the items currently listed in the plan, and how you can submit comments before the deadline.

The Crystal Trail from Carbondale to Crested Butte plan was narrowly approved by Pitkin County Commissioners on Wednesday, Deceomber 19. For this week’s news brief, KDNK’s Raleigh Burleigh speaks with Scott Condon of The Aspen Times about what’s next. The approved plan is available for review here.

The Pitkin County Open Space and Trails Board and County Commissioners were in Carbondale late last month to hear public input about the draft Carbondale to Crested Butte Trail. Pitkin County recently released a draft plan for its proposed Crystal Valley Trail. KDNK's Amy Hadden Marsh spoke with Will Roush, conservation director for Wilderness Workshop, to get the group's take on the plan.

Plans for the Crystal Valley Trail are proceeding. As the first draft plan reveals, the process may take decades. KDNK’s Raleigh Burleigh reports. The 263-page work session draft plan is available here. Video of the full discussion is available here. A revised draft plan will be released for public comment by April 10.

Pitkin County Open Space and Trails meets to discuss public input on the proposed Carbondale to Crested Butte Trail Thursday, December 21 at the Pitkin County Library from 9:30 to 11:30 AM. The meeting is a work session, not a public hearing, but it will be open to the public. A joint meeting of the Open Space and Trails Board and Board of County Commissioners is scheduled for January 16th, 2018. The two boards will discuss the survey results and provide direction to OST staff about drafting a trail plan. Public survey results on options for the trail are here.
