The Sopris Sun

On this week's episode of Everything Under the Sun, host Will Grandbois talks to local poets about a series of workshops and a poetry slam Friday at the Third Street Center in Carbondale. Everything Under the Sun airs each Thursday afternoon on KDNK. Sopris Sun staff talk about the most recent edition of the paper and answer questions from callers. Hear past episodes here.

Dj Hill

DJ Hill will premier her Homespun Mercies, a compliation of poems written over two decades, at the opening reception for The Red Brick Center for the Arts exhibition More Than Thread on November 15. In addition to making available copies of her book at this reception, DJ Hill's mixed-media piece called "Release," which graces the cover of Homespun Mercies, will be on display. DJ stopped by KDNK's Express Yourself to share about her work.

Craig Childs

In addition to celebrating one year at the Temporary this weekend, the Arts Campus at Willits is also premiering Summer Solace, a multi-media, story-telling performance with adventure author Craig Childs. Craig joined Raleigh on Express Yourself to talk about the event.

Meta Sarmiento, a National Poetry Slam semifinalist and winner of Spoken Word for the World, talks with KDNK about his free poetry workshop "Mahal" at the Basalt Library on Friday July 27th at 10AM, as well as the poetry slam he's hosting at The Temporary in Basalt on Wednesday July 25th. His latest book of poems is "Tie Your Shoes Kid" and his debut hip hop album is "Apt 207."

Alya Howe, artistic director of performing arts organization Under Alya's Umbrella, talks about the Poetry Market this Sunday July 22nd at 8pm at Wheeler Opera House in Aspen.
