Recently, a group of about 30 parents and educators met in the lunchroom at Sopris Elementary School in Glenwood Springs to plot out the future of the school. The "Future of SES" initiative, as it's known, is meant to build on the school's existing merits. Mark Duggan reports.

With vaping on the rise among youth, especially in Colorado, Youth Zone is piloting a project with the Roaring Fork School District to intervene before students are issued a ticket. To learn more about the program, KDNK’s Raleigh Burleigh spoke with Youth Zone executive director Lori Mueller.

Next week, the Roaring Fork Schools are hosting a community visioning process to engage with parents, staff, students, community members, and partners about their hopes for our children and schools. Carbondale Middle School was among schools across the county and the country that staged a 17-minute walk-out Wednesday to honor the 17 victims of last month's shooting at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in Florida. Last year, The State of Colorado gave 9.2 million dollars of tax revenue collected from recreational marijuana towards improving school health. The Roaring Fork School District invested 220,000 dollars of grant money in hiring three prevention specialists, including Sonja Linman. KDNK’s Raleigh Burleigh spoke to Sonja about using pot money to fund prevention education.
