On January 12, the National Weather Service issued a six day flood warning in Carbondale after a major ice jam released on the Roaring Fork River. Christina Medved, Director of Community Outreach at Roaring Fork Conservancy, explains the science.

Fourth grade students at Glenwood Springs Elementary School completed an in-depth study of the Roaring Fork Watershed. They learned about taking care of the watershed, water conservation and how people impact the watershed.

Local artist Sarah Uhl was commissioned by the Roaring Fork Conservancy to illustrate a map of the Roaring Fork Watershed. Sarah and Liza Mitchell, education programs director for the Roaring Fork Conservancy, joined Megan Tackett, reporter for The Sopris Sun, on Everything Under the Sun to share about the project.

The snow-water equivalent on McClure Pass hit zero on May 1st, and local run-off has already peaked. What does that mean for the Roaring Fork Watershed this summer? How are drought and low flows effecting Colorado? This and more will be discussed tonight at the Roaring Fork Valley State of the Rivers event at the Third Street Center. KDNK's Amy Hadden Marsh spoke with Zane Kessler, communications director for the Colorado River District, to find out more.

Glenn and Kim Schryver are the caretakers of Grizzly Reservoir, just east of Aspen. Their job is to maintain the reservoir and the creeks that flow into it, as well as the 4-mile tunnel that sends the water east to the Front Range. Setting aside the heated politics of moving resources from one basin to another, the tunnel is an engineering triumph—and for many months of the year, the couple's only link to civilization. H2O Radio has their story.
