Over 100 people gathered in Sopris Park Friday for the Climate Strike, organized by 350 Roaring Fork. The event coordinated with other strikes around the world. Speakers included Carbondale Mayor Dan Richardson, Dr. Greg Feinsinger, Arn Menconi, and local youth. KDNK’s Amy Hadden Marsh spoke with students from Ross Montessori after the event.

Students from the Ross Montessori School journalism class researched various topics and shared their findings with the Andy Zanca Youth Empowerment Program.

On Thursday evening's Nonprofit Spotlight, Gavin Dahl spoke to Ross Montessori head of school Sonya Hemmen and development and enrollment director Tricia Williams. They are individual members of KDNK and Ross supports the station, too. Hemmen says, "I love local radio, I think it's really important to have our local news. We're not listening to news from Denver. It's a real gem to have here in this community."

"It's pertinent and it's relevant and it's who we are as a community," added Tricia Williams.
