Rev. Shawna Foster, minister for the Two Rivers Unitarian Universalist church in Carbondale, recently traveled to the U.S. Mexico Border to greet the caravan of asylum seekers coming from Central America. Maeve Conran of KGNU spoke with Shawna from Tijuana last week. Shawna and other Roaring Fork Valley locals will speak about traveling to the U.S. Mexico Border in support of the migrant caravan at the Third Street Center on Tuesday, December 18, at 6pm.

Two Rivers Unitarian Universalist Church in Carbondale has granted sanctuary to a local immigrant rights leader and mother of three. KDNK’s Raleigh Burleigh has more. Sandra Lopez, her Attorney Jennifer Smith, Reverand Foster and Pam Williams will speak tonight at Two Rivers Unitarian Universalist Parsonage, at 343 Cleveland Place, in Carbondale, at 6:15.

Reverend Shawna Foster, minister of Carbondale’s Two Rivers Unitarian Universalist congregation served in the Army National Guard shortly after 9/11. She sat down with KDNK’s Amy Hadden Marsh to talk about her reflections on Veteran’s Day, her own experiences with the military, how her attitude has changed over time, and the Veteran’s Camp for water protectors in North Dakota.
