Dimensions in Diversity with YouthZone's Rami El Gharib

In this month's Dimensions in Diversity on the Andy Zanca Youth Empowerment Program, Steve Mills interviews Rami El Gharib from YouthZone about Restorative Justice practices and growing up in Beirut, Lebanon as an LGBTQ+ teen. 

The Andy Zanca Youth Empowement Program presents local community experts and students sharing their opinions and experience using restorative justice (R.J.) to rectify harm and solve conflicts among youth. Jonathan Greener of Stepping Stones and Karen Barbie of YouthZone speak about the impacts of implementing R.J. in the valley.

Last week YouthZone, the Colorado Workforce Center and Department of Vocational Rehabilitation announced a partnership with the goal of giving teens at YouthZone guidance and help on their career path and first steps into adulthood. KDNK’s Lucas Turner has this story.

With vaping on the rise among youth, especially in Colorado, Youth Zone is piloting a project with the Roaring Fork School District to intervene before students are issued a ticket. To learn more about the program, KDNK’s Raleigh Burleigh spoke with Youth Zone executive director Lori Mueller.

Local youth advocacy nonprofit YouthZone has departed from their longtime fundraiser, the annual Kiss ‘N Squeal, to explore a talent showcase for participants of the program. The Ascent Showcase is on Wednesday, October 3 at the Temporary, from 6 to 8 pm. KDNK’s Raleigh Burleigh reports…

YouthZone, with sponsorship from Community Health Initiatives, invites the community to “High in Plain Sight,” a presentation by Officer Jermaine Galloway about youth drug trends. KDNK’s Raleigh Burleigh spoke with the presenter and YouthZone director Lori Mueller to learn more. The presentation is on Monday, July 23rd, from 8am to noon at Glenwood Springs High School.
