In honor of Black History Month, we're airing a special four-part program celebrating Black gospel music's place in music history. Hear parts 2 & 3 this Thursday afternoon at 2, and part 4 Friday at 4pm.
The program celebrates the roots of gospel and examines how it has influenced secular music and major recording artists.
The Gospel Roots of Rock and Soul is hosted by Grammy award-winning gospel singer Cece Winans. It was produced by award-winning radio producer and musician Alex Lewis. His past projects include Going Black: The Legacy of Philly Soul Radio and Localore: Finding America.
KDNK is airing The Gospel Roots of Rock and Soul in four parts:
- Part 1: Sunday February 17, 7pm-8pm
- Parts 2 & 3: Thursday February 21, 2pm-4pm
- Part 4: Friday February 22, 4pm-5pm
