Rivers and streams are not just for municipal and agricultural use; recreational and ecological values are now in the mix, like how much water is needed to maintain fisheries and to keep the river ecosystem intact? Parts of the Crystal River almost run dry in late summer due to diversions for agricultural use and to keep Carbondale's ditches running. So, the town is working on ways to become more efficient with its raw water use. KDNK's Amy Hadden Marsh has this report.
