This week US Senators Michael Bennet, Cory Gardner, and 37 other Senators asked the House and Senate Appropriations Committee for increased election security funding ahead of the 2020 election. This action comes after the Colorado County Clerks Association, which represents all 64 counties in the state, sent a letter urging the Senate to increase funding to address ‘critical vulnerabilities’ in election systems.

Pitkin County Clerk and Recorder Janice Vos Caudill is the president of the Colorado County Clerks Association. She told KDNK about why the CCCA sent the letter in collaboration with Colorado’s Secretary of State. Vos Caudill also says that technical systems need to be continually upgraded in order to remain current.
