A controversial predator control plan in Colorado is heading into its second year. Colorado Parks and Wildlife - or CPW - plans to kill bears and mountain lions in the Piceance Basin, north of Rifle, and in the Arkansas River Basin to see if that will boost deer fawn survival rates. Freelance reporter Rico Moore has been following this story since 2016 in a series for the Boulder Weekly. For this week’s News Brief, KDNK’s Amy Hadden Marsh talks with Moore for an update on the story and how CPW may be going after mountain lions that no longer exist.
