  • Basalt Library is hoppin’ today with First Wednesday Book Club from noon to 2, summer of STEAM from 2 to 3, a screening of the kids movie Moana en Espanol from 5 to 7, and another book review club starting at 6.

  • Snowmass Rodeo gets started with BBQ at 5 and rodeo events starting at 7.

  • At 6, the Aspen Philharmonic Orchestra play the Benedict Music Tent in Aspen.

  • Smokin’ Joe and Zoe play the Sage Bar in the Snowmass Club at 6.

  • The Summer of Music Series at Two Rivers Park in Glenwood Springs starts at 6:30 tonight with openers Nanama. Battle of Santiago plays at 7:30.

Looking ahead…

  • On First Friday July 7th, join KDNK between 3 and 7pm for an open house and artist reception featuring local landscapes from Colorfulcrow Photography, aka Ape on the Dink, host of the Wild Rumpus on Friday mornings. We are celebrating new creative uses of the KDNK building thanks to our rezoning.

  • Tune in Sunday July 9th from 4 to 7pm for another live broadcast from the Summer Music Series in Sopris Park. This month Let them Roar and Dangermuffin perform live in the park, presented by the Town of Carbondale and Steve's Guitars.

 

Gavin became one of the youngest station managers in public radio on February 1, 2017. He is a writer and producer with a passion for community media. Prior to starting at KDNK as news director in 2016, Gavin worked for national radio programs Alternative Radio with David Barsamian and Nonprofit Radio with Tony Martignetti along with local stations KGNU Boulder, KYRS Spokane, KRBX Boise, KAOS Olympia, and Air America Radio affiliate KPTK Seattle. His nonprofit management experience includes Open Media Foundation, where he led a government transparency team, and Common Frequency, where his policy advocacy supported dozens of noncommercial radio startups. Boulder Weekly, Raw Story, Austin American-Statesman, Boise Weekly, and The Sopris Sun have published his reporting. His TV credits include directing teams at Colorado Channel, crewing for Democracy Now!, and hosting on Free Speech TV. He graduated from the Evergreen State College in 2008 with a BA in media production and community organizing.
