This week is Banned Books Week. You can join in the annual celebration of the freedom to read by supporting local bookstores, visiting the library, and challenging censorship of diverse authors or uncomfortable subjects.

Today is the final Carbondale Farmer’s Market for the season from 10 AM to 2 PM at 4th and Main.

Children & teens are invited to a mobile maker-space at the Carbondale Library today from 2 to 3:30. A free lunch is served at 2, courtesy of the Food Bank of the Rockies. Kids can design, create, tinker, and play with 3D Pens, make stop-motion animation films, build video games, and more.

Florence Foster Jenkins screens through Thursday at the Crystal Theater in Carbondale at 7:30 PM.

Valley Life for All presents “Everything You Wanted to Know About Employment for Individuals with Disabilities” Thursday, September 29th at the Carbondale Library from 6:30 to 7:30 PM. The event is free. Child care will be provided with RSVP. Click here for more info. 

All are invited to Phat Thai Thursday night from 6-9 for delicious food and drink while supporting the Buddy Program, offering support to families and more to empower youth in the valley. Liz at 970.920.2130 has tickets.

LOOKING AHEAD...

The KDNK Record Sale is an annual tradition during Potato Day, Carbondale’s oldest community celebration. This Saturday, October 1st, KDNK will be next to the stage at Sopris Park, selling vinyl, CDs, and stereo equipment from 9 AM to 3. Proceeds benefit KDNK. Bulk buys encouraged.

The Roaring Fork High School Art Department hosts a computer recycling fundraiser this coming Saturday and Sunday (October 1st and 2nd) at the Grow Dome in back of the school. Any brand of computers, monitors, notebooks, printers, fax machines, scanners, desktop photocopiers, CD drives, hard drives, TVs, VCRs, projectors, cables, keyboard, mice, and more will be accepted between 8 and 4 on Saturday and 10 and 2 on Sunday. There is a drop-off fee since this is a fundraiser for the RFHS Art Department.
