Here’s your community calendar for Thursday, September 29th, underwritten by the Mount Sopris Rotary Club, meeting every Thursday at noon at Mi Casita in Carbondale. Rotary, service above self.

  • This week is Banned Books Week. You can join in the annual celebration of the freedom to read by supporting local bookstores, checking out your local library, and challenging censorship of diverse authors or uncomfortable subjects. More info at BannedBooksWeek.org.

  • Today is the final Rifle Farmers Market of the season at the Community Lot at 2nd and Railroad, starting at 4.

  • The Basalt library hosts a training about blogging with Wordpress at 5:30.

  • All are invited to Phat Thai from 6-9 for dinner and drinks while supporting the Buddy Program. The Buddy Program offers support to families to empower youth in the valley.

  • From 6:30 to 8, Marble Distillery hosts Yappy Hour. Colorado Animal Rescue provides the adoptable dogs and Marble offers custom cocktails like Bloodhound Mary.

  • Valley Life for All presents “Everything You Wanted to Know About Employment for Individuals with Disabilities” at the Carbondale Library from 6:30 to 7:30 PM.

  • Smokin Joe and Zoe play Heather’s in Basalt starting at 6:30.

  • Kyle Jones mans the piano at Riviera Supper Club starting at 7.

  • Glenwood Springs Brew Garden trivia night hosted by Max Graf and Greg Bensen is at 8:30.

Looking ahead…

  • The KDNK Record Sale is an annual tradition during Potato Day, Carbondale’s oldest community celebration. This Saturday October 1st, KDNK will be next to the stage in Sopris Park, selling vinyl, CDs and stereo equipment from 9AM to 3. Proceeds benefit KDNK. Bulk buys encouraged.
