Community Calendar for October 19th

Here’s your community calendar for Wednesday, October 19th, underwritten by the Mount Sopris Rotary Club, meeting every Thursday at noon at Mi Casita in Carbondale. Rotary, service above self.

  • The Food Bank of the Rockies’ Mobile Food Pantry will be at the Eagle County Community Center in El Jebel at 11AM. Free food will be given to anyone seeking assistance. There are no qualifications, membership fees or eligibility forms to complete.

  • The organic pumpkin patch at Osage Gardens, on River Frontage Road between New Castle and Silt, is open from 11AM to 6PM. Kids activities include a hay maze and hay mountain.

  • The New Castle Gardens Pumpkin Patch on Peach Valley Road in New Castle is open from 10 to 4:30 with the Pumpkin-ator that launches pumpkins over 200 feet. Other activities include hay rides, pumpkin bowling, pumpkin basketball and hillbilly golf.

  • Colorado Mountain College hosts a Graduate School Fair at the Blake Avenue campus in Glenwood Springs at 5. The public is welcome.

  • The Weekly Dharma Talks series continues at Third Street Center in Carbondale at 5:30.

  • From 5:30 to 7 at the Basalt Library, Audubon Rockies’ Habitat Hero Coordinator Jamie Weiss demonstrates the importance of restoring our communities - one garden patch at a time. Learn how to create wildlife-friendly gardens that help combat the loss of open spaces and create green corridors that provide habitat for wildlife.

  • Jonathan Gorst mans the piano at the Riviera Supper Club in Glenwood Springs at 7.

  • Heather’s in Basalt features Chris Bank and Larry Herd at 7.

  • From 7:30 to 9, mindfulness facilitator Lisa Goddard guides participants in the practice of cultivating mindfulness through meditation, yoga and the felt senses of the body.

  • The Helio Sequence play Belly Up Aspen, with Genders opening at 9:30.

  • Tomorrow, October 20th, KDNK offers DJ training at 5 PM. Sign up by calling 963-0139.

  • Also on Thursday, KDNK will broadcast the Carbondale mayoral forum live from Third Street Center, in partnership with the Carbondale Chamber of Commerce and The Sopris Sun. The event kicks off at 5:30 and runs until 7. Mayor pro tem Dan Richardson, trustee Katrina Byars and former trustee Ed Cortes are running for mayor.
