Community Calendar for October 25th

Here’s your community calendar for Tuesday, October 25th, underwritten by the Mount Sopris Rotary Club. Rotary is holding a raffle, with all proceeds going to dental care for local children in need. Prizes include a 3-day trip to Denver with hotel and Broncos tickets. For more information, contact Pat Pier at 987-3265.

  • The New Castle Gardens Pumpkin Patch on Peach Valley Road is open from 10AM to 4:30 with the Pumpkin-ator, pumpkin bowling, pumpkin basketball and hillbilly golf.

  • The pumpkin patch at Osage Gardens, on River Frontage Road between New Castle and Silt, is open from 11AM to 6PM. Kids activities include a hay maze and hay mountain.

  • Basalt Library is busy today with three events. Girls Who Code at 3:45 is the coding club for girls grades 6 through 12. They learn how to use computer science to make music, design games and create animations. Registration required at basaltlibrary.org.

  • If your little ones dare, they can join Basalt Library for creepy crafts, spider races and a story about a haunted library from 4 to 5.

  • And a documentary screens from 5:30 to 7. SCREENAGERS probes into the vulnerable corners of family life and depicts messy struggles, over social media, video games, academics and internet addiction. Through surprising insights from authors and brain scientists solutions emerge on how kids can get empowered to better navigate the digital world.

  • Anderson Ranch Arts Center hosts a guest lecture at 5:30. Artist Jess Dugan’s work explores issues of gender, sexuality, identity and community. She was named a Champion of Change by the White House last year and exhibits her portrait photography internationally.

  • Aspen Weekly Writers Group meets at the Red Brick from 7 to 9.

  • And Sandman hosts karaoke at K Seas Wing House in Glenwood Springs starting at 9.

Looking ahead…

  • A reminder that all six branches of the Garfield County Libraries will be closed this Friday, October 28th for a staff training day. Normal library hours will resume at 10 AM Saturday.
