Community Calendar for November 17th

Here’s the KDNK Community Calendar for Thursday, November 17th, underwritten by the Mount Sopris Rotary Club. Rotary is holding a raffle with all proceeds going to dental care for local children in need. Prizes include a 3-day trip to Denver with hotel and Broncos tickets.   • The Western Slope Veterans' Coalition offers complimentary coffee and donuts to veterans and their families every Thursday from 10 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at the Glenwood Springs Library

  • Summit Canyon Mountaineering, under the clock tower in Glenwood Springs, wants your clean, reusable coats or jackets to donate to the Salvation Army. AND, from November 18th to December 4th, anyone donating a coat or jacket will get a 20% discount off any new coat or jacket.  But, you don’t need to buy a coat to donate one.

  • The 2016 U.S. Capitol Christmas Tree passes through Glenwood Springs today on its way from Idaho to the White House. The City of Glenwood Springs and the White River National Forest host a free, public event, beginning at 4 PM at Centennial Park to view the tree and usher in the holiday season with music from Symphony in the Valley.

  • Roaring Fork Schools and the Manaus Fund host Mark Warren for a free talk about community organizing at 5:30 tonight at Roaring Fork High School. Warren will talk about how community organizing can be a catalyst for school reform and is part of a broader agenda to address socio-economic and racial inequalities that affect children’s education.   • Basalt Chamber Business After Hours hosts the Kick Off the Holidays Chamber Party tonight from 5 to 7 at 400 Gillespie Drive in El Jebel.

  • Dandelion Market, aka the Carbondale Food Co-op holds its annual membership meeting tonight from 6 - 7:30 at the Third Street Center.

  • The Roaring Fork Women's Triathlon Team presents a special screening of the movie "TRI" at the Crystal tonight at 7:30.
