  • The Deck the Walls holiday show continues at R2 Gallery inside the Launchpad from 9AM to 5.

  • Today at 2, Glenwood Springs Elementary hosts a tour of construction at a “Topping Out” ceremony where students will sign a steel beam that is soon to be hoisted into place.

  • Larry and Patty Herd play The Nest at Viceroy Snowmass Hotel at 3.

  • Damian Smith and Terry Bannon play New Belgium Ranger Station in Snowmass Village at 4.

  • Limelight Hotel in Aspen features live music with Defiance Stringband at 4:30.

  • The Vaudeville Revue kicks off at 6 in Glenwood.

  • At 7, the Aspen Black Box Theater presents Big Fish the Musical.

  • Two events in Paonia kick off in the 7 o’clock hour tonight. Sno Dub is a concert at the Resonance Academy that will feature bass music starting at 7. And the 8th annual Dark Night event with author Craig Childs will start at the Paradise Theater in Paonia at 7:30.

  • The Crystal Theatre in Carbondale screens the critically-acclaimed film Moonlight at 7:30.

  • Heather’s in Basalt features the band Aspen 440 at 7:30.

  • At 8, Marble Distilling in Carbondale hosts live music from Rosewood Divine.

  • And Belly Up Aspen hosts Lupe Fiasco at 9:30.

Looking ahead…

  • The first Moonlit Treks at Snowmass Mountain are coming up tomorrow to celebrate the full moon with a snowshoe or cross country ski tour under the stars at the Cross Country Center.

  • This Sunday, December 18th at noon, Marble Distilling teams up once again with Open Fire Catering & Roaring Fork Beer Company for a mountain-style Broncos Tailgate during the game against the Patriots. All proceeds from the Colorado Animal Rescue football pool go to CARE.

Gavin became one of the youngest station managers in public radio on February 1, 2017. He is a writer and producer with a passion for community media. Prior to starting at KDNK as news director in 2016, Gavin worked for national radio programs Alternative Radio with David Barsamian and Nonprofit Radio with Tony Martignetti along with local stations KGNU Boulder, KYRS Spokane, KRBX Boise, KAOS Olympia, and Air America Radio affiliate KPTK Seattle. His nonprofit management experience includes Open Media Foundation, where he led a government transparency team, and Common Frequency, where his policy advocacy supported dozens of noncommercial radio startups. Boulder Weekly, Raw Story, Austin American-Statesman, Boise Weekly, and The Sopris Sun have published his reporting. His TV credits include directing teams at Colorado Channel, crewing for Democracy Now!, and hosting on Free Speech TV. He graduated from the Evergreen State College in 2008 with a BA in media production and community organizing.
