Celebrating 40 Years of KDNK

With strong support from our community for 40 years, and without commercial constraint, KDNK on the air can be occasionally profound, sometimes profane, very funny, even unabashedly silly, often informative but always compelling. We are goosebump radio for the Roaring Fork Valley and Beyond. Since 1983 we have been an accurate mirror of our valley-wide community. Thanks for that opportunity and please enjoy these blasts from KDNK's past.
  • Another off-the-wall contribution from Social, everyone's favorite Deadhead.
  • Blondes really do have more fun at KDNK and so do Pampers cover boys.
  • Mike is former mayor Mike Speer. Manny is statiion founder Lee Swidler.
  • The beloved DJ Phathead is locally famous forever for his singsong KDNK ID.
  • That game was a backyard tar far.
  • At the height of a local development controversy the then-new band Leftover Salmon paid a visit to the Merle and Chameleon show, back when they did in-studios.
  • Soliciting door-to-door? There was no internet then, but they must have been pretty desperate.
  • A good example of KDNK's passionate DJs.
  • Inspiring.
  • Finally, a good use for campaign yard signs! This comes to us from eTown. KDNK was the first radio station in the country to pick up the program in syndication back in the 90s.
  • Makes you wanna cry. Ohio congressman Tim Ryan on the New Dimensions show.
  • Arlo tells the truth and KDNK is happy to trumpet that far and wide.
