Join Anderson Ranch Arts Center for a conversation with Visiting Artist James Casebere, a pioneering visual artist whose work has helped shape the field of constructed photography. For nearly five decades, Casebere has created intricate tabletop models—often inspired by architecture—and photographed them in his studio, transforming simple materials and constructed spaces into evocative images.

Casebere’s multidisciplinary practice also includes large-scale sculpture. Since receiving the Rome Prize in 2019, he has created outdoor sculptures using cross-laminated timber (CLT), as well as indoor sculptures made from burnt bamboo. His work is held in the collections of major institutions including the Whitney Museum of American Art, Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum, The Metropolitan Museum of Art, Walker Art Center, and Tate Museums in London.

As a Visiting Artist at Anderson Ranch, Casebere will engage with the Ranch community through studio work, conversations, and a public lecture. His Visiting Artist Lecture will take place November 3 from 4:30–5:30 p.m. in Schermer Meeting Hall. The lecture is free, open to the public, and available to attend in person or via livestream.
