Fire safety in the White River National Forest

Hattison Rensberry

Fire danger has become even more a fact of life in Western States, Colorado being one of them. The East Troublesome Fire and Grizzly Creek Fires of 2020, as well as the Rio Blanco and Marshall Fires of 2021 have made it incredibly clear to locals and newcomers to the west that understanding fire safety is as integral here as hurricane safety on the East Coast. KDNK's Hattison Rensberry consults with Shelly Grail, a Forest Service Recreation Manager about fire safety in the Rocky Mountains.

Another way to become “Firewise” is to reference the resources put out by Colorado State Forest Service.

Hattison Rensberry has a Bachelor’s Degree in Graphic Design and Drawing, but has worked for newsrooms in various capacities since 2019.
