Phase 2 begins on Glenwood Meadows Rebuild

The Glenwood Springs Meadows rebuild project has reached Phase Two, and KDNK spoke with city employees Bryana Starbuck and Matt Langhorst about what shoppers and residents can expect.

"Langhorst: Phase two basically is the intersection of Wolfson from the intersection of West Meadows all the way back to Market Street. It doesn't in affect the intersections themselves, but it's all of the islands in the middle that were falling apart. And it'll be all of the parking areas and all of the roadways will be completely removed and replaced.
The islands in front of Chili's are actually almost done. We'll be paving the centers of them. The islands in front of the lofts and adjacent to like Russos are about half done at this point. And when they're completed, they'll pour the middle and then the bus stops that are out there that are always a little bit problematic if you've been there, we're actually concreting those.
There was an irrigation issue, which caused the one to fail quite quickly. We've worked with the lofts and we've gotten that one resolved, so the two bus stops will also be concreted, and then all of the asphalts in this area will be removed and replaced, and we're trying to get that done by the end of this month.
Um, but since we're so far ahead in the concrete work, which wasn't supposed to start until the road was closed, which obviously if you're working in the middle of an active road, it slows things down a little bit. Um, but since we've gotten far enough ahead, we should be towards the end of August, maybe the first week of September.
And then when we're done with uh, Phase 2 A and B, we will start phase three, which will be the other section of the road on Wulfsohn we haven't done yet. And then we will reopen in front of Lofts Three. Uh, we appreciate the public being tolerant with us, Lowes and Target and everybody working with us; 'cause this obviously changes how they get in and out of their businesses. They have been great partners on it. Everybody's been super tolerant. Um, we are fighting, paving and concrete schedules just like everybody else's. So patience is key, but when we get through it, it will be amazing.

Starbuck: I would always encourage folks to sign up for our city news and alerts, which are available in email or text messages. If you're not signed up for those, it's a great way to know when we have major traffic impacts and project updates on items like the Glenwood Meadows Rebuild project."
