Recently the community of Carbondale was informed of 80 unhoused Latino individuals living beneath a bridge, thus through informal communications and social media channels local and regional nonprofits were able to make contact with the group and provide them with aid. KDNK recently spoke with non-profit Voces Unidas CEO Alex Sanchez, about what the community response has been and the next steps. He notes that the individuals have been very gracious and overall the group has a lot of positivity, but they are still in need of community support.

More information on the situation from Voces Unidas is available at: https://www.vocesunidas.org/post/how-to-help-the-unhoused-latino-group-in-carbondale
