Christmas tree recycling returns

Christmas trees are coming down, and valley residents have plenty of opportunities to recycle them instead of pitching their pines into a dumpster.

In Aspen, trees will be accepted until February 14th at the Rio Grande Recycle Center. For residents of Basalt, Arbaney[arr-beny] park is the place to drop your tree until the end of the month.

Carbondale’s usual lot drop-off near city hall is available again until February 6th. The City of Glenwood Springs offers a drop off at the old rodeo grounds until January 14th.

The town of New Castle does not have a program available this year, but Rifle has organized a tree recycling program for residents to drop off trees in a lot near Wamsley Elementary until January 31st.

Anyone dropping off a tree at these locations throughout the valley is requested to remove all ornaments or decorations from the tree, and to not bring in wreaths or other decorations that contain metal wires.
