Local and state politicians converge on ADU discussion

Accessory Dwelling Units or ADU’s are a recurring suggestion for housing solutions in areas like Western Colorado that are battling growing populations as well as hopes of preserving a “small town feel”. This week, Governor Jared Polis visited one in Glenwood Springs with City Councilman Jonathan Godes. KDNK News Director Hattison Rensberry has more.

In a State of the State address held at Morgridge Commons in Glenwood Springs this week, Governor Polis spoke about other housing initiatives involving Valley Alliance, and about upcoming commuter rail in areas such as Craig. The commuter trains would use pre-existing, industrial rail lines that will see less coal train traffic once the coal plant in Craig shuts down in 2028.

Hattison Rensberry has a Bachelor’s Degree in Graphic Design and Drawing, but has worked for newsrooms in various capacities since 2019.
She also provides Editorial Design for the Sopris Sun.
