Four families, plus a collection of their friends and coworkers, gathered at the new Wapiti Commons development in Rifle this afternoon. Today is their closing day for the brand new townhomes, and attendees cheered as keys to the units were distributed. One new homeowner exclaimed how it didn’t yet feel real. Jessica Montour stands outside watching her daughter play in front of their first brand-new home. When asked what she is most excited for with their new house, she had this to say:

"The amazing relationships we've already made with the neighbors. "

KDNK noted that Montour had gone through this whole process with all of the other applicants, and it makes sense that through it she would already know all of their neighbors. When asked how the process had been Montour laughed joyfully.

"Amazing. I've enjoyed every minute of it. Habitat's made it easy."

Montour says her daughter is most excited to have her own room, and space to play outside with her friends.
Tune into KDNK at a later date for an interview with another one of the families, and view photos of the event at KDNK.org
