The Carbondale Board of Trustees met on Tuesday to welcome new trustees and say goodbye to those who are finishing their terms.
Council members ending their term began the meeting with some of their final comments.
Notably, Marty Silverstein brought up affordable housing. Silverstein stated that affordable housing is not cheap housing but rather more affordable than free market housing. Silverstein emphasized that Carbondale cannot afford to lose young couples that bring kids to the schools and a future for the town. Lani Kitching, Luis Yllanes, thanked their constituents and expressed gratitude for their time in office.
In regards to the town center, the board has been invited to do a formal presentation for the Colorado Housing and Finance Authority on the 17th of May. The board also approved a fixed maintenance sum contract for the North Face Bike Park with the Jump Doctors. The proposal was submitted by the Parks and Recreation Department to maintain the quality of the park.
The meeting closed after new trustees were sworn in. New board members are Jess Robison, Ross Kribbs, and Christina Montemayor. Other agenda items included making May 4th Arbor Day, and February’s Sales Tax Report.
