Jesse and his psychotropic folk band from Austin, The Deer, return to Carbondale for two shows next week: Friday night at the Carbondale Mountain Fair, and the following night at Steve's Guitars. The Deer, Austin’s answer to Elephant Revival, have an elliptical way with a lyric and delicate but complex melodies that surround and suffuse the words. It all adds up to something psychedelic and irresistable. The Deer have played Steve’s Guitars several times, and in the process have become Carbondale favorites. We caught up with Jesse while the band drove through Nevada.
